Directing traffic I've set up a LiveJournal account as a way to motivate myself to work on resolving a personal problem. But of course it's just one journal in a massive ocean of them. I'd like some traffic so I get some support and don't feel like I'm talking to myself (if that would work, I could just type into a Word file). No, it's not under the Orange Swan name and I'm not going to say what pseudonym I am using because I'm embarrassed to have a blog on such a topic - too bad, since I could easily get a little traffic that way. How do get a little attention?

Cricket superstitions? I have a cricket in my house!!! I found him on Friday night, I call him Fred. Fred is silent during the day, but as soon as I get into bed at night, he starts chirpping very loudly which makes the cats think there is a mouse in the house, they are going nuts trying to find him.
I question if I should try and catch him and put him back outside. I know the superstition that crickets in the house bring good luck, but they take that luck with them when they leave. He'll die in the house with no food/water or if the cats find him. Will I be tempting the fates if I set Fred free? Do I leave him be or do I try to find him and set him loose outside possibly sending my luck away with him?

No wonder the writing on greeting cards is considered a byword in bad writing. Yesterday I needed to buy a sympathy card, so I stepped into a nearby drugstore, where they had an aisle of cards. Some of them seemed designed to make the bereaved feel worse, or perhaps just distracted from grief by the resulting bemusement.

Perfect... Tonight was one of those evenings that turned out ossem...
I rolled out of bed early and helped my mother move into a new place. It was 82 degrees today...not exactly the best weather to be moving furniture in.
But after I was done, I got a call from Frito. He turned 35 on Monday and his girlfriend was making him dinner and they invited me over! We had steaks the size of dinner plates, twice baked potatoes and braised carrots, beers and chocolate cake for dessert!
Then we piled into the his Mini Cooper, blasted The Hold Steady and went down to The Baltic Room where Kid Hops, DJ Riz, Rebecca West and AC Lewis played everything from 'broken beat' to electro and deep house. We were met by several friends and I was introduced to some really nice new people too...and though the evening started off slow, by 11:30 the joint was jumpin!
After gettin' my swerve on, we got back to the Frito's and I rode my bike home along Lk. Washington - it was peaceful and perfect, with nothing but me and my motorcycle and the lake.
I sang "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" all the way home...'cause I could die with a smile on my face right now.
