Dang. dong_resin and I were e-mail buddies way back although we've fallen out of touch. We even exchanged mix cd's a bunch of times. I was glad when his brilliance was recognized and he got a job writing. Too bad they're letting it die.

Yeah, Screenhead and Sploid are both getting the ax, and they're both blogged by long-time MeFites (Ken Layne for Sploid). And they're the only two Gawker Corporation sites I regularly visit. I was thisclose to FPPing it at MeFi. Instead I got myself a Gawker Group commenter membership (not easy) so I can heap on some internal abuse until my inevitable bannination there.

Youtube is a hosting site. I have to go in looking for what I know I want, for the most part. Screenhead picked out little gems and things that I never would have heard of, and not all of them video links either. Phooey.

Ok, that just sucks. Screenhead I read, sploid occasionally - like wendell I don't even bother with the other gawker things.

Methinks this means that dong_resin is too cool for ~~school~~gawker.

That's really too bad. As dong_resin's a fellow mefite, we should mourn. But also because it's been a great site.
