Yay, freelance! Just got offered a freelance writing gig, which sounds like tons of fun and not all that much effort. Yay! →[More:]It's nice to be able to keep posting "Yay, the universe is awesome!" posts. I'm getting to like it.
Sometimes it damn well is. It's especially awesome when it goes from cruddy (as you were feeling the other night) to showers of shiny baubles. Way to be, occhi!
Newsletter for a fun travel company. It's just kind of short and punchy, and should involve the kind of internet research I like to do (that is, completely bizarre and random facts about completely bizarre and random places).
And I've done so much travel writing that it'll be quick to find sources, and the sense of humor in the samples she sent more or less matches mine.
Which is among my many frustrations at my current job -- my boss does not understand my tone when I write anything other than straightforward copy, and it sucks to watch any signs of originality and life slowly sucked out of every piece I turn in. And then get accused of not being creative.
But enough with bitching! More with the yay-ing! Yay!
I just heard some word on the grapevine that my application to go freelance to do the same job I am doing now has received an initial positive reaction. If it comes off, I could end up getting paid nearly twice what I do now for the same amound of work, and I get to work from home, set my own hours etc.
