Seen any of the concert offerings at Jaxx this fall? I guarantee you I will be in Springfield on 19 Sep. 18 Oct is looking pretty good too, and 4 Dec except I think I'll opt to see them at the Troc instead to avoid weeknight travel.

I'm rather the other way around; most of D&W is entirely meh to me, sounds like Hansi and Jon just going through the motions. I like Blind Guardian better when they strip it down a little bit; Imaginations is by far my favorite, Night at the Opera is so overblown it took me a long time to even warm up to (except for Silence, which I loved from the get-go, and the part at 10:00 makes me punch the roof of my car when I'm driving).

I've been pretty disappointed with Jaxx's lineup this year so far. I don't see anything there that really warrants a trip, unless my friends' band Brave gets an opening act in there somewhere. I'd see Epica (Mark Jansen cofounded my favorite band, After Forever), but I don't like Kamelot and won't pay $25 + fees to see Epica (especially because they try really hard to be After Forever and don't come close) as an opening act. *shrug*

And you're right on BG - they are just way too over-the-top for me. And I don't like layered vocals as a general rule. Or power metal, unless it's more to the "power" side (Nevermore, Iced Earth) and less on the "happy" side. Heh.

I used to ♥ BG too. I tortured my Dave Mathews fan-filled hall in my dorm by blasting Nightfall in Middle Earth my sophomore year.
