CBR Help. [More:] I mentioned earlier that after 5 weeks, I was thinking of changing out my piercing to try something new in them. I did a little research and a lot of the info about removing CBR earrings mentions stuff like pliers (!). Is it really that difficult?
special pliers.

Oh, dear. This means I have to break out the tool chest every time I want to change earrings?

I haven't changed mine in over 5 years, at least 8 for the one in my ear. Why mess with a good thing?

Just don't let your finger slip and google "CBT" while you're at work (Hint: don't do it.).

Jon, if it's small you may be able to do it by hand. If it is big enough that you need a pair of pliers then you should get the right tool so you don't bend your ring out of shape. Still, if you are buying something new most places will make the change for you.

They're one gauge up from the smallest. And my ears look pretty well healed to me at least.

Why mess with a good thing?

I dunno, I just wanted to maybe try something new in 'em.

Circular barbells are a nice look, I think, and very easy to remove.

With CBRs, the larger the jewelry gauge, and/or the smaller the diameter of the ring, the harder it will be to remove it.

(I'll probably buy something non-CBT to replace it, just so I can change em easier)

I'm wearing them in this pic, just for reference.

If you will wear them, I will personally buy you some Mr. T dangly feather jams or some circa 1994 around the way girl door knocka shits.

Please.

Maybe pick up the new ones and bring 'em with ya to where you got your ears pierced... have them take the old ones out, like arse_hat suggests?

(also, according to the news, there seem to be subway power outages/low voltage problems for Queens... the W's not running, though the N still seems to be, so far... cab?)

I actually just talked to a co-worker who has CBR's in and she says she can remove hers by hand no problem. Confusing info.

Pips: maybe I'll do that after work. Keep the house cool for me?

(I heard about the W this morning, but the N was OK)

Sweet. I'll swing over to the piercing place and come home for dinner.

Cool beans. : )

Lookin' forward to seein' the new hoops!

In case you were wondering, I went to the piercing shop and they said that the CBR's I have on could fairly easily be removed by hand. I didn't buy any new earrings because all they had were more CBR's in stainless and the jewelery stalls on St.Marks had only silver, which I've been advised against, although I've met co-workers with silver in fairly new piercings that have been fine, so I may reconsider.
