Adventures in medicine update. Pips began running a fever Thursday night.[More:] We were told that was a warning sign that gallstones were becoming inflamed so we cabbed it up to Washington Heights and the emergency room. After only 9 or so hours of sheer bliss, she was admitted and we were shuttled up to their branch in Inwood, where this afternoon, in a procedure that went swimmingly, Pips was relieved of her gall bladder. So, next time you see her she'll have a lot less gall.

She's resting comfortably and recovering nicely. Me, I'm bushed since I've been awake (minus a catnap on a gurney for an hour) since 7am Wednesday, and my back is sore from sitting on stray heelchairs and ER floors, but it's worth it to see Pips feel better. I'll be visiting her again tommorrow morning and will relay all well-wishes.
Feel better soon, Pips!

Heal quick, but don't try to do too much too quickly and pass out in the bathroom like I did. NOt a big deal, but I learned my lesson. Be lazy!

Jon, don't feed her anything fatty or greasy for awhile. Don't worry tho, it ain't off the menu forever.

(Hey, when my hubby got his out I was totally snowed in at the hospital for three days. Three teenagers at home alone that I couldn't get to. I'm sure hilarity ensued.)

Also, don't do what my husband did after his gallbladerectomy. He got goofy on percoset and tried to skateboard in front of our house. Not pretty. And yes, hilarity ensued.

Oh man (and woman) I'm sorry you both had to deal with this but I'm really glad that Pips's okay and feeling better.

And jon, sleep well, buckaroo, you have earned it!

Don't worry Pips -- we've all got plenty of gall here and we'll be happy to give you whatever you need. Get well soon!

Speedy recovery, Pips (and Jon). Glad you have each other to get through this stuff with.

I wondered at your absense yesterday. . .I am glad it went well and we'll all be here whenever you get the strength to push the power button, Pips.

Glad to hear that everything went well. At least now, hopefully, she'll start feeling better. You heal up there, Pips! We'll be here to keep you amused while you recover.

And don't run yourself too ragged, Jon. Get some rest while she's got professionals to take care of her. She'll need your help when she comes home.

Och, me darlings! Youse've gotta take it easy! I'm all ready to bring hugs, medicines, soups, smokables, what have you, to ease your pain and/or agitation. Just call me Dr. Love! Or Dr. Feelgood!

Seriously, glad your surgery went okay; it's all a little frightening but I can't wait to see you feeling better, and I'm sure you will. Rest up, Pips and jonmc; I'll see youse soon.

Oh, Pips. Time to just laze around and read and doze and heal.

Please take it easy, Pips, don't do too much. And a small pillow held against your side/tummy will actually help with the discomfort as you move (ie: get up/down). The worst will be two or three days after surgery, as all the gas they pumped in your abdomen roils around. (Too bad you can't fart it out! :^) ) The scars are usually small (I'm assuming you had surgery laparoscopically) and fade to almost nothing. The biggest scar is the one in my belly button. At least that's over with! Now, on to the healing!

And get some sleep, jonmc!

I had a feeling something like this was up when I didn't see you Thursday. I'm glad you were able to catch it in time, though waiting 9 hours to get admitted was a bit much, imo. Gallbladder about to erupt? You should have gotten admitted like pronto!

Pips: If you still need stuff to occupy your time by Monday, want me to bring over some cracked out anime stuff? I guarantee that the hot man-on-car action in Utena will be awesome fodder for conversation and possible plot bunnies. Or, you could watch the movie version of the TV series where the main character gets transformed into a car and then there's lesbian luging.
