Wow, the first movie clip of the monsoon is NUTS. It looks like the city goes completely underwater there at one point! :) Great link, c.o.t.w.a.w.

My mum and I got caught in one of those monsoons whilst driving on the highway (major north/south route, can't remember the name/number) in Phoenix. Couldn't see past the front of the car. We pulled over and waited it out which took all of 15 minutes or so. I never, ever want to do that again.

I was in Tucson around this time last year . .just hot and people were waiting for the monsoons to start but they never did.

My inlaws said that summer for them is like winter for a lot of people because most people spend it inside, doing mental gymnastics about how much a/c to use vs. merely relying on the swamp coolers.

It IS lovely, though. Tucson is nice.

strictly swamp cooling for me, which is hell sometimes. good reason to be naked most of the time, though.
