A sniper with a sense of humor. I have a mixed reaction. . .the first being, "only in Berkeley," the second being, that it would SUCK to get hit by one of those, and have to deal with it.
The real question: "Is this going to escalate to where people get wounded or killed?"
The problem with these kind of cases is that they very frequently escalate. Kill a paintball this month, shoot to wound somebody next month, shoot and kill somebody. The criminals in multiple murder cases start small and work up. The myth of "snapping" is 99% BS. The criminals don't "snap" -- the prior escalation goes unnoticed.
Not funny at all. I bet some cops are sweating this right now.
I've done paintball when I was living in Edmonton, and all of where I worked went out for a day of it. Even through clothes and a thick paint-suit type thing, those fuckers _hurt!_ I got tagged on the thigh by one that did explode, and even though it hit canvas and jeans it still left a welt.
In short, not very funny, and also what warbaby said.
Hitting people not good. I've often thought paint balls would make a good road rage diffuser though. Some twit cuts you off on the freeway and you let his car have it with a couple shots. Not only do you feel better but others are warned until he washes his car.
You could even colour code:
Red: Ran red light
Yellow: cut off on freeway
Pink: doesn't know how to use turn signal
Green: doesn't know how to park (double spacer, sideways parker, double parked across a handi cap spot)
Blue: tailgater
Brown: unfamiliar with the concept of yield
Black: apparently ignorant of the speed limit.
God, I remember an episode of C.Hi.P.S. that started with some paintballers chasing each other off the property. It was such a lame segue into "... and then they were endangering the public" that it kept me away from paintball for years (because C.Hi.P.S. was cancelled and I had no other way to channel my rage).
