Fill in the blanks. People think I'm ___, when really I'm___
What's odd is that due to the relative safety of the internet, we can (and do) reveal more of our true selves, so we may have a clearer picture than people who know us IRL.
detached/trying to keep my emotions in check
smart/smarter than they are
And don't even get me started on the transference! My job is basically allowing people to think whatever they like about me while I sit there in horror. (Ok, not completely, but it happens a lot.)

I agree with that.
Isn't it interesting? Looks like very very often, what is actually felt internally to be a quality of unsureness / shyness / insecurity / hesitation can be read by the world as arrogance / aloofness / coldness / unfriendliness. This is worth remembering.
People are mostly such vulnerable little softies underneath, aren't they? This is why it's not too sensible to hate.
I still think there are some genuinely arrogant people, though.

Amanuensis is one of my favorite words. So poetic. Also useful. You know those times when you know somebody who is just so cool and witty and says the maddest things, and you think: "You know what you need, Oh Cool One? Somebody to follow you around with a book and write down the cool stuff you spew out all the time." That's kinda lengthy, so you can just say "You need an amanuensis." (I know that stretches the definition a little, but that's how I think of it).
