Beckham got a raw deal in 1998 -- he made a very dumb move but I'd never blame just him
Portugal's nothing to write home about, they have only one true champion and his name is Luis Figo. but Felipao's a smart man, I'll be surprised if he doesn't manage to take advantage of Rooney's thuggishness.
and by the way, if England wins, who's going to play against Brazil in the semifinal, Crouch?
have you noticed how England's massive advantage in possession of the ball just vanished after Rooney was sent off? if you allow the Portuguese to take control of the midfield and of ball possession, you risk a lot
I am sad to see England leave like this. The players were all great in the game and I do not understand why people accuse Eriksson for the setup (in this game at least). It is not his fault that Rooney is a looney. Neither is his fault that they cannot shoot penalty kicks. England came in as an underdog really, heavily criticized in their own country who did not seem to believe they'll go that far even. They never managed to gain confidence in the game. Too bad for England. Sigh. Big heavy sigh.
On the other hand, there is some sort of divine justice in all this, because Portugal does not (I repeat: NOT) deserve to be in the semifinals. However, they mocked Greece after she beat Portugal twice in Euro2004 on the premise that oh! she is not good enough. So now, what are they gonna say? The sore losers? (Yes, I dare make the comparison, Greece and Portugal. Suck it haters.)
Now there is another game to watch. Can someone teach Henry the meaning of Off-Side. It cannot be that hard. I learned it.
Oh, and I'm sorry your team lost, but for most of the game, they really weren't playing all that well. France was playing better than them. I'm glad they won.
