Update Me! What's been poppin' over the last week or so with you guys? I've on vacation. Wann hear how everybody's doin', ya know?
Holla at the "kid"!
Well, Ginny run off with the candy butcher from the drugstore, and Pappy's back on the 'shine. But we're all real proud 'cause little Timmy got accepted to the Academy. Grandma's rhuematiz is bothering her again, but the doc says she'll be right pert again if it ever stops a-rainin'. Me, I'm just as fine as frog hair.
Like yooz is gonna go hang wit' dat mamaluke Jimmy D down at the diner as soon as you run crazy-ass gramma back to da ol' folks home? Them maybe you grabs yerself a zeppole and a cold one?
Yo, Joe, I'm doing great. I have a new lease on life. I was in a fire last week and now I don't much care about anything; bad stuff sorts itself out and there are more important things to do than worry, I'm finding it easier (though not perfectly easy) to give people the benefit of the doubt, or at least to avoid snap judgments most of the time. I'm still hung up on fairness, and that's gonna continue causing me trouble, but something clicked into place between the 911 call and the all-clear, and I have a better understanding of what's worth my time.
I've been talking to my landlady a bunch, particularly about the foundation she wants to set up. I have a feeling she might want to hire me, which would be pretty cool, as my current job feels like a hot dagger to the ass. I'd be surrounded by models and spas and receptions and all those other things I surely deserve. The good life. Everyone deserves a chateau.
Work on my plays has proceeded apace, and though one was rejected earlier this week, it wasn't unexpected, and my current work is much better. All it takes is perfection. And being funny.
I'm going to Maryland this weekend to visit my parents. My nephew will be there. I'm excited.
Hugh, if it's one thing I've learned over the years, it's too never let your sense of fairness be compromised. You're a good man. Stay that way. Even in the face of evil.
Glad you're doing well though. Everything is okay on this side. Just a bit hectic, but nothin' I ain't use to. Knowutimean?
I'm alright, except the central locking on my car has packed up so I can't use it until I get it seen to, except to drive it to the mechanic on Friday morning. And even then there's a chance I'll have to get out, Dukes of Hazzard style, through the window. The car's 9 years old, so I'm not going to spend a lot of money fixing it. Lance (mechanic) said that he can disconnect the central locking and make it manual locking. That'll do for me.
In the past it would've been a major drama for me, but it's no big deal today. I can walk to the station (a mile) and I'm going to the supermarket with a neighbour tomorrow, so there's nothing I really need the car for until it's fixed.
Oh, and I left my mobile phone in the office (again). It's the one blind spot in my otherwise fairly organised life. But only about 3 people have the number and they never call anyway.
Joe! How the hell are ya! Welcome back! (I tried to play it cool, but, you know... *jumps JF's leg*... I did say "jumps," right?) : )
Jon and I went to a nudie beach in jersey and I burnt my boobs... he burnt his feet, and I had to go out and get him cigarettes and beer for a couple of days, but I didn't mind... we saw bits of fireworks over the trees from our back porch last night and watched The Big Lebowski, which I'm addicted to now... my mom called and said my Uncle Sam is very sick (he's been dealing with lung cancer for years, and now they removed most of his stomach at Sloan Kettering... I'm afraid to call my mom for an update)... my students graduated last Wednesday and looked splendid in their royal purple robes (our school color)... I have to write a book and clean the apartment, but all I wanna do is sleep... I'm loooonely here by myself...
Hi Joe Famous - while you were gone, I've had most of my internal organs harvested and the rest of me is currently residing in a small jar filled with some kind of nutrient for my brain. The days pass well here with the other Heads in Jars, some are sleeping, some wide awake and chatty as anything!
It's not bad here, except when the Lab Coat Guy comes in and shuts down all the lights at night. Then, then...all we can do is scream. And okay, maybe someone tells a good dirty joke or whatever, but mostly we scream.
