Does flickr make your photos blurry sometimes? [More:]I know they resize when you upload, but do they compress? Or maybe it's just my monitor. I uploaded a photo, and it's driving me crazy because part of it looks smeary when I upload it. It's perfect in my graphics program, though, before I upload it. I also uploaded it to image shack and the same thing happens. Do you see distortion and compression around the word 'emotion' on the red kayak in either the flickr photo or the image shack photo?
it looks OK to me -- I had to click on it to make it larger.

I see the same amount of compression around each.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do process photos to a lower-quality compression level for display purposes, to save on bandwidth.

I can't see any difference.

Psho, you don't see compression, and me3dia, you do?

Um... Both of your links are to the imageshack photo.

But yes, I see some artifacts in the red around emotion. The file is 100k on imageshack. How big was it before you uploaded it?

Those are the same image and URL.

I fixed the flickr url - that's the original size.

How odd that I've never noticed this before. Why this particular photo? I've replaced it several times in different sizes and they all compress in the same way.

Argh. I cropped it and uploaded the cropped photo to image shack and to flickr and the same thing happened. Me not understand why happens this.

Could I email the photo to someone and have them tell me if it looks ok? This is driving me crazy.
