I thought you were supposed to buy low and sell high. In 10 years when it's impossible to get film and film cameras, a roll of expired velvia will be worth MILLIONS *cackle*
I'd like to see that against a chart for black and white film. I'd like to think that people who still use B&W (and develop and print their own shots!) are still a nice ongoing hobbyist market. Probably a lot more of the "general public" used color film than used B&W, and are much more likely to switch to digital.
On the one hand, film is a beautiful medium. On the other hand, developing it involves a load of toxic chemicals. I hope digital DOES finally replace film altogether, but only if digital can be made to look as gorgeous as film. I think it will be.
I actually got back into film! I've been using Kodak's Portra 120 VC and loving the look (and the latitude). I even joined the local community darkroom and got back into printing my own B&W. Oh, I still have and use my digital camera, but I'm going to keep shooting film until it's totally unavailable.
