Mats is gonna move to PDX! Well, not for about a year, but I've been rolling it around in my mind for a few months now and it's finally gotten solidified enough that I feel it's OK to tell more people about it. My MeFi/Mecha social network down there is definitely going to help ease the transition, for sure!
Yay! I'm glad to hear it's official now! You'll be a welcome addition.

Seattle weeps!
Heh, I first read that as Matt's gonna move to PDX. As in Haughey. Who already lives there. Sort of.

You gotta help me find a job, Alan.

Hey Mats, what's the timeframe on your move?

Wooooo hooooo!

Pi: Most likely after my best friend's wedding (May 07) and my UK trip (June 07). So about this time next year.

Fabulous timing Mats!!! I just heard yesterday that the P-town Ikea is due to open its doors next spring, some time in March. They broke ground this week.

Cool! I have some great friends in Portland... one former co-worker who's a native, and a gay pagan couple from Texas who just moved there, and are some of my closest buds. When I finally visit the place, I'll feel like I know half the town already! :)

The rents are amazing there. I could have a huge apartment with hardwood floors and a fireplace for what I pay now in Seattle. But I'm probably going to get rid of most of my furniture before I go, so you'll all be sitting on the floor for a while when you visit me. I'd like to think I'm a little past the Ikea stage of life, but if the UK trip eats up as much money as everyone's warning me it will, I might have to get a starter couch at the big blue and yellow.

Everyone's doing it.

The Harvey Girls are coming to town, too.

Clearly, you all just want to be close to me. "That Josh Millard", they say: "He's like an Ikea that never closes."

"I should buy him beer regularly," they add.

It took me awhile to figure out what PDX meant.

Yaaay, congrats girl!

Yes, I was thinking, "Which bunnies live in Phoenix, Arizona?"

(had to Google "PDX")

I'd buy at least one beer for cortex aka Josh Millard, fershure.

Yay Harvey Girls!

Congrats on this, mats. I know you've been mulling things over for a while. I wish you every success and happiness!

yay for mats, but Portland cannot claim me. Sorry PeedeeMechas.

If ever it should occur that I was going to leave the east coast (highly unlikely) then Portland is my destination of choice. Maybe someday I'll at least visit!

You will be welcome in the Beaver State. . .*smile*

Ikea? Oh christ that's the last thing this town needs.

No, wait, a Tibetan Prayer Flag Store, that's the last thing this town needs.

And welcome to Portland, matildaben! You'll love living here.
