Interesting. Does anybody ever try to use it against movie theaters showing R-rated movies? Or hotels? I would think the defense would be based on the fact that the "Purpose and Intent" section clearly states that what they want to do is regulate the "adult entertainment" industry in town and hopefully a judge would realize that cracking down on cable tv in hotels is outside of that intent. But of course I'm sure there are lots of anecdotes out there to prove me wrong.

Nope, the intent was to make everything illegal and then apply selective enforcement. The city council got the draft from Don Wildmon's American Family Association and adopted it without consideration. I attended the public hearings as they rushed it through without reading it - and was the only person who spoke against it. There were some real psychos testifying in favor.

I always think of this nonsense when things like the bare chest or giving out food bans comes up.

I continue to be vastly amused the city shut down a titty bar to make room for the world headquarters of criminal thugs. And inadvertently criminalized every movie theater and motel in town. You can't make this stuff up.

Hugh - there is a chronic corruption problem here in Tijuana North. The town was founded on rumrunning and now derives a lot of capital from money-laundering for dopers. We also haven't had a prostitution arrest in decades.

There's no question the crooks run Vegas, so what's the story of those places in Merrie Olde Englande? When I see these sorts of stupid laws, I suspect crooks are running the local government. The linkage here between christofascists and corruption is just too cute for words.

I suppose when I move somewhere else, it will be a couple of years and then I'll once again be the leper with most fingers in that burg. I keep trying to get out but they keep pulling me back in.
