ZoMG! Lightning photos!! →[More:]As promised, my first attempts at lightning photography, with a point-and-shoot no less. Seriously one of the most intense electrical storms I've ever seen anywhere - which aided my attempts greatly. Yeah, I'm still alive and so is my computer. Yay.

Wonderful pictures. I'd love to see a lightning storm. I love the smell of the air before it thunders, and the way the sky goes grey and yellow.

Thanks and you're welcome. I figured folks would want to know how to do it. It wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be, but it was just a lot of work and sitting and waiting and shooting. And a lot of "Oh, damnit!! I should have opened the shutter 3 seconds ago or 3 seconds later!"

Also, I meant to say this technique would probably work for lots of point-and-shoot digitals. Basically any digital cam that can do longer exposures either manually or automatically in low light.

Very cool! I love a good storm (though some of the intense storms recently were quite frightening in their intensity). I have never been successful at photographing lightning, and I'm so envious! These are great!
