Ok, I'll start. I'm posting two, which I took the day after I bought my new camera. I was delighted at the quality of the pictures and that I was able to take something resembling a decent photograph with an element of composition instead of a 'snapshot'.
hmmmm. i love photos like this of natural colors and textures, but I suppose most people skip right past them. maybe. not everyone appreciates the stuff that i think is natural, found, abstract art.
...as i wanted. but they're not photos, so i guess they don't count. and how many people remember what the hulk looked like in the '70s anyway? you need to be an old comichead to be (mildly, heh) amused by the joke.
My two most unappreciated pics are both phone cam pics. I guess they get overlooked so often because of the resolution. I think they both look great, though.
Also, this pic from New Orleans doesn't get much love, but it's pretty representative of the city after Katrina. I took this out the car window, so that explains the odd angle.
I apologise in advance for the number...I liked 3 of these a lot, and one I felt I should post even though Jen took it. I think it might have been where I came up with my username.
NICE, tommasz!! i love especially the 1st waldo pic too, danf.
and, jonmc, i've always had a weird, whimsical fascination with blue women (but not a fetish, lol--no worries.) not sure where i first saw one--maybe an Atlantean in the old Marvel Sub-Mariner comic? is yours real? maybe i was a blue-tattooed pict in a past-life. anyway, great photo.
tommasz, that's a well done photo, and it took me back to my visit to Rochester. I'm sure it wasn't that spot, but I remember being around the river and being The Coldest I Have Ever Been. I think we were looking for Gennesse Falls? Bewery?

Only 28 views (before posting it here) but three favorites. I suppose that's not so underappreciated, just under-viewed. ≡ Click to see image ≡
I love the light in this one.
this pic didn't get a single glance and I had it up for 2 months on flickr, and posted it to several groups. Sigh.
when you consider I'd shot maybe 4 or 5 times with my D70 and that I'm a complete novice to SLR photography anyway, I was pretty proud of the fact that the composition, panning and focus were tight.
Oh well. Maybe Flickrites just aren't as much into hot boy butt as I am...≡ Click to see image ≡
me3dia: I *really* like your chair, you're correct about the light.
shane: I totally get the Hulk! I used to watch that show RELIGIOUSLY every wednesday night (mostly cos I had the mad schoolgirl crush on Bill Bixby). ah, youth.
these photos all deserve(d) more than just a casual glance.
Pardon me whilst I trot out one of my pet conspiracy theories :adjusts tinfoil hat: I figure a lot of the stuff that gets on flickr's (not so) 'interestingness' group has been put there by the toadies, syncophants and lobbyists of their photogs.
or maybe I'm just bitter... pardon me whilst I have a total emo moment :cries, cuts self:
lonefrontranger, I don't see your photo. I'd like to see it.
You might be right about flickr's interingness photos. And the photos that get the most comments are subjects that appeal to the greatest number of people - it's the same stuff over and over. It's all babies and bugs on flowers and sunsets and cute animals doing cute things. Not that I have anything against those things, and some of those photos are outstanding, but I've seen very average photos of sunsets or a butterfly on a flower getting 300 comments of people having orgasms over how amazing and gorgeous the shots are. People eat that shit up. You can't really predict who will comment on what, but you can definitely force some comments by joining the 1-2-3 comments and 4 Aces and groups like that - the reason they exist is for commenting. Search for them over there.
Views are another thing. I've taken some photographs I considered to be pretty damn good that no one looks at, and yesterday I uploaded a photo of a mannequin torso. I included 'panties' and 'sexy' in the tags and this photo has gotten over 150 views in less than 12 hours. Meh.
Can anyone else see lonefrontranger's photo, or is it just me that can't access it? I've tried pasting the url directly into my browser and I still can't.
danf, I appreciate and love *all* of my own photos, and shower myself with lots of compliments... ;)
These really are great pics, everyone. Danf, I loved yours! Seanyboy, that face is awesome. And lonefrontranger, I loved how the cyclist is in focus, yet the background is blurry. Very well done!
