Eat Fish! [More:]"Best & Worst Seafood Choices
Our guide can help you choose fish that are healthy for the oceans and safe to eat. (Learn about seafood and your health and fish to avoid.)

Green text indicates fish that are both high in omega-3 fatty acids and low in environmental contaminants.
Red text indicates fish that are high in mercury or PCBs (see individual fish pages for more information)."
Thanks. Good info. Not happy though with my dearly beloved orange roughy being deemed not eco-safe more than 2x per month. Damn.

Note that in Agropyron's link below, it's stated that farmed salmon is bad, and in this one it says that canned salmon is good. Canned = farmed.
"There are five species of wild salmon from Alaska (...) all come from well-managed fisheries and are low in contaminants."
Well managed according to whom? If they come from fisheries, then they're farmed, and therefore not wild. What does "low in contaminants" mean, and according to whom? Europe has a far stricter set of guidelines saying what's good and what's bad in contaminant levels, so take all the info with a grain or two of salt, is all I'm saying.

Don't forget the sustainability issue, either.

Check out Seafood Watch.

I steamed and ate three blue crabs for dinner. ($3.99 a pound! Live! I got to choose and bag them myself!)

Just to clarify: not all canned salmon is farmed.

Also, the term “fishery” doesn’t just refer to farms.

Thanks, bmarkey - I've been searching high and low for info on fisheries.

Hope is the opposite of hate; || I have bubbles, and atomic fireballs... it's a good day.
