Anyone else's spam filters stop working on Hotmail? →[More:]

So I know I'm a schlub for still using Hotmail (one account I've had for ten years!), but let's not talk about that. Let's talk about the fact that two days ago, my spam filter all but stopped working. Anyone else?

I turned mine off because it was catching all my real mail.

I know it sux!

The filters worked about 90% of the time, and every once in a while would grab a real email.

But there was a big change two days ago. That's what I'm askin' about.

To clarify: my inbox had the sort of mortgage/Viagra/stock tip/porn spam that I haven't seen in it in quite some time.

Thank you, it wasn't just me!

Except my spam filter stopped working a couple weeks ago. It worked very well before then. I switched my filter to "only allow mail from contacts and allowed mailing lists" recently because I was sick of seeing all the spam. I check the junk folder every so often to make sure it didn't catch a "real" email.

Hmm, it seems something's up with their filters.

P.S. I already have a gmail account. I just haven't futzed with it yet.

Yeah - it happened to me, too, Specklet. Sounds like about the same timeline, too. Around a week ago, or so. It's really been pissing me off.

Gmail is the future.
Plenty of storage space, special features and great for chatting.

I have lots of invites if anyone wants one.

But you don't even need an invite anymore. You can invite yourself from your cell phone.

I have lots of invites as well.

And yes, specklet, it seems a lot of spam is coming into the regular inbox (I have it forwarded to OE) rather than the spam folder.

Speck I'm a schlub right there with ya. It's my crapmail catch all account & I've had it forever. I'm too lazy to change it. Gmail for all else.
