Portland Hotels? →[More:] Two friends in their 60's have asked me to look up downtown Portland OR hotels on the web. They are staying a couple of days to eat, shop, etc on their way to a wedding in another state. Their list so far is: Benson Hotel, Hotel Deluxe, Mark Spencer, Park Lane Suites. I've done the TripAdvisor list for them.

Nice downtown hotels under $200? They are staying a couple of days to eat, shop, etc on their way to a wedding in another state.

Those are all nice, but I'd avoid the Hotel Deluxe since it's a little far away from shopping and eating. The Mark Spencer is nice and near Powells and the tram line.

I've stayed at Mark Spencer and liked it. I don't know the others. I also stayed at the Governor Hotel for about $90 a night (special web rate, I'm sure), and it was really sweet.

I have really liked Hotel Lucia the couple times I've stayed at it. It also has Typhoon if they like Thai food.

I prefer staying at the
Kennedy School when I can get a reservation, but that's probably not the sort of place they are looking for, nor is it near downtown shopping.

The Marriot in downtown has the smallest rooms I've ever seen, but the beds are awesome, at least for sleeping. Plus, that was the only hotel that I ever found porn in.
