Who likes arugula?→[More:]I've harvested about a gallon of arugula seeds from two monster plants. Anyone want some? Happy to share.
It's insanely easy to grow (even in pots), but it likes cooler weather.
I like it, but I have seeds of my own.
Damned if our poor little rockets didn't go straight to the flower-and-seed stage, bypassing the lots-of-leaves phase completely.
Woo Hoo! Me Me Me!!!!! I heart that stuff! I've got nowhere to plant it, but I think my frend could lend me some real estate in her community garden plot.
I like me some Arugula too. From the Gourmet Sleuth :"On another interesting note, Rocket or Arugula seed has been used as an ingredient in aphrodisiac concoctions dating back to the first century, AD. (Cambridge World History of Food)."
Now any truckers (or anyone else) caught eating arugula we are going to be taking your picture and sending it to your employer AND posting it on the web since we all know that eating arugula leads to rape and sex and stuff. Don't ignore the statistics...
I vaguely remember hearing a song on NPR (I think it was on A Prairie Home Companion) in which the refrain was "Arugula, arugula, arugula, arugula... [etc.]" I just thought I'd share.
For those with bolting problems, pinch the flower stalks off when you first see them, and be vigilant about every potential flower stalk. You'll prolong the lives of the plants this way -- and, for better or worse, the flavor of the leaves will be quite a bit stronger.
