11 July 2006

New, for your stalking pleasure. I finally broke down and posted some stuff to Flickr. [More:]Mostly to appease my mom who wants to see my photos. If you're into the photog thing, send me a message and I'll add you.
Anyone who does nice things to appease their mom is good peoples.

Nice photos, too! I love the one with the freaky scary ducks in it. They were definitely out for blood.

Cool! I like the aloe vera.

Gawjuss. I love the southwest. Nice calves, too ;-)

The AZ pics make me homesick. But I'm moving back in a matter of weeks. I love the desert. Whoo.

I like the aloe vera jam very much, you are a good photographer. You should post more stuff.

Thanks for the contact-adds and comments, all.

D_W, gaspode: Yeah, people like the aloe vera one a lot, and it's hard to believe that that camera is like 7-8 years old now.

I love the camera. It has great optics and features for any point and shoot, even disregarding that it's ancient, and it does less than 1 centimeter macro focus - which is pretty much up inside the lens shroud right up against the lens - but it's depressing that it only does 640x480, so I don't shoot with it much anymore.

The camera has some pretty severe limitations, the resolution being only one of them. It overloads in sunlight like crazy, even mild reflections of sunlight blow it out into those vertical CCD overload bars. It artifacts heavily on complex images (you can see some of it in the aloe shot) and any high contrast fields (like sunsets behind a horizon ridge) and I get those crappy contrast overload artifacts along the edges. It also sucks mighty bad in low light and gets noisy/grainy fast.

Still, I should go shoot with it more. It's free, I have rechargeables for it and I've grabbed some great shots with it.

I shall analyze all the pictures and will be at your front door within the next two days. Get your rifle ready!

My love gun is always ready.

Would you like D/M/S, UTM, or DD MM.MM co-ordinates? NAD27 or WGS84 datum?
posted by loquacious 11 July | 20:06
Actually, loq, you bear a startling resemblance to my ex. Creeeeepy.

Ahaha. Wait, what's your real name? ohshitohshit!

I will need more pictures with less clothes for stalking purposes. ;-) It looks awfully hot and dry there - you better come to Asheville and I'll stalk you around here, where it's nice and damp and green.

I expected more tattoos. ;^)

Seriously though, I really like the desert photos. But, being the desert *cough*, it's too bad it's so freakin' hot so much of the time. Maybe I will visit my bro some Spring sometime. Some day. Maybe.

Very nice pictures. Sorry to hear about your breakdown, though.

MGL: Ah, no. My mom's gonna be watching those pics. But being stalked amongst the greenery wouldn't be terrible.

deborah: Yup, zero tattoos. I used to have an assortment of piercings, but zero tattoos. I'm extremely visual, and A) I'd have a real hard time determining what art I'd want on me for the rest of my life and B) Finding someone I trusted to execute it. I've thought about getting some of my geometric/optical art done as a small tribal/blackwork type piece, but that'd probably drive most inkslingers mad with frustration. Besides, I'd much rather remain the quiet, normal looking sort that one should actually worry about. ;)

Very nice pictures.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your breakdown, though.

Eh, it's been fun so far. I just know I'm going to kill my bandwidth for the month in the first 24 hours, though.
posted by loquacious 11 July | 22:39
I managed to start staying under my bandwidth limit by shrinking the images myself, rather than allowing Flickr to do it. The hell if I'm letting them mark down 20 MB for what they then shrink down to ~4 MB.

I just posted a handful more stuff. I have too many damn photos. Like 15,000 or some shit.

I love that fly picture, what beautiful colours.

Thanks!

That's shot with that old Ricoh 300Z I keep prattling on about. I love the color values it grabs in the right lighting, and I love how short the macro focus goes. (By comparison my "superior" and "more modern" Nikons can barely handle focusing closer than 5-10 inches, while the Ricoh does less than a centimeter.)

I really do love that camera, so much that I bought it back from a friend after I'd sold it to him.

Looking forward to Photo Friday!
