Along with the usual deoderant, soap, razors, and toothpaste at the local drugstore, I picked up a few fun things. I haven't had bubbles in ages. Passing by the display, I thought, Why not? They're no ordinary bubbles, either. They're

My adopted mom also sang Happy Birthday to me on the answering machine while I was out. She's a day early, which I find adorable, if a bit surreal. We had lunch yesterday at her favorite place, Thomlinson's. She loves onion rings. She'll be 91 on the 26th. A woman paused to say how beautiful my mom looked. She's about five-foot-nothing and recently let her hair go silver. Now she's addicted to silver jewelry on QVC, with diamonique. "It matches my hair," she says.
