The National Film Board of Canada | Office national du film du Canada has put 50 animated shorts online![More:]If you've never seen The Big Snit or The Cat Came Back, you should!
Also, there are interesting pieces like Mindscape and The Owl Who Married a Goose: An Eskimo Legend. Many different types of animation on a wide range of subjects from humour to more serious topics.
OMG... I saw "The Big Snit" years ago at an animation festival, and have always loved it. (The same animator did a great one called "Pigbird" that was a PSA about importing animals... I bet it on here too.) This is awesome! Thanks so much, Zack!

PS: I just watched "The Big Snit" again, and it's still just as brilliant.

They also have Norman McLaren's filmstock etchings. They inspired me to do my own film when I was about 14 years old. Great link.

It's amazing what a government can do when it allows funding for cultural affairs.

The National Film Board has done amazing work which is still really useful to educators of all stripes. A phenomenal program.

I never made a film, but I did do a bunch of flip-books full of superheroes and explosions, when I was 12 or so.
I really like the pinscreen effect for the flow of light and dark it produces.

I still don't quite get how that pinscreen thing works, but the effect is brilliant... Mindscape is so freaking gorgeous.

It's like one of these, but with 240,000 pins instead of a few hundred.
