17 July 2006

it's almost warm outside [More:]

Right around 100, not sure what the exact temperature is. I have five plastic water bottles that hold 1200ml or so each and I have drank all five of them dry in the last several hours. Kinda making me wish I had nothing at all to take care of in the way of flowers/garden.

And although it is starting to dry out a bit, it is still too humid. I hate days when you have to take off your headband every few minutes and wring the sweat out of it like you have been standing in the rain or something.

I think tomorrow my hair, which is already pretty short, is going to be cut as short as I can get it without burning the top of my head.
I went out to water before teaching tonight, and soaked my shirt in five minutes. It's insane, no relief in sight, no rain for a WEEK.

I'll be the first to bitch about the cold come winter though.

At least when it's cold you can put more clothes on. When it's this hot, you can only take off so much and still go to work. At least the room I work in is only 42 degrees. Although that makes it worse when I do leave work.

It's a delightful 72 degrees outside with a slight breeze. I feel terrible for the rest of the country.

14c here this morning (57f).Not that I'm complaining - winter here is my favourite time of year. Given the choice between 14-20c with 50% humidity (typical winter weather) and 35-40c with 90% humidity (typical summer weather), winter is by far my favourite.

It's hitting the hundreds where I am, with lots of nice humidity. It annoys me that the nights are more humid than the days!

Yech. It's 10pm here and it's still hotter outside than in. I have no A/C in this apartment so I deal.

We have thunderstorms to the north and south. Allegedly the front is passing through anyway so we'll see a 15-20 degree drop by Wenzdy.

It's rainy season here. Hot, humid and droning rain. What a trifecta. Yesterday was the biggest festival of the year in Kyoto, maybe the most famous in Japan, but it was raining so hard that probably the only people outside for the parade were those who paid to travel to kyoto especially to see it.

Bummer, we've got nice fog in the evenings that makes things positively chilly and then nice hot, sunny days. But then, a crappy old house costs a half a million dollars here.

On the upside, my tomatoes are loving the heat during the day, they bake in the sun on my deck in a wine barrel!

The downside, I want my hot tub to be a cool tub during the day and a hot tub at night and to not take up any space on my deck when I don't want it there.

I picked blueberries in the early afternoon yesterday, with the help of an ice pack stuffed down my shirt. Even then it was purty darn hot. Apparently too hot for the redbugs that usually bite me out there.

Although we've had a few days that were too hot for my comfort, this summer has been a great one in the PNW.
