take any fireworks pictures? show me. yes. →[More:]
Here are mine. Crappy. Smoke. I will keep wind direction in mind next year and I might find a spot to watch the fireworks that will actually allow me to see most of them. =P
I took over 200, but I'm too lazy to sort through them, and they're kinda small and distant, not to mention heavily out of focus as I didn't have a good highspeed telephoto camera (can you say 2MP Coolpix?). Just the right quality for personal memories, but entirely wrong for public consumption.
weretable, you got some pretty nice shots! I was going to post this thread so thanks for saving me the time.
Here are two I shot that I think are worth letting others see. No pro show where I live, these are people in front of their houses with mortars and fun stuff! ≡ Click to see image ≡

I didn't get any fireworks but I did get a shot of a very hammy baby who was walking in the annual Fourth of July parade in Southampton PA. They make a big deal out of the 4th there. This baby could barely walk, but she was huge, and had legs and arms like like a weightlifter. She was totally playing to the crowd and running up to people and grinning from ear to ear and screaming and waving her little flags. She was cute for about one half second, and then I wanted to smack her.
Yeah, the fireworks setting works really well. Most of mine from last year looked like yours and I deleted them all in frustration and then later wished I had kept them. Without a tripod you can't keep the camera still enough to get non-wavy pictures but I got a few last year by holding it against a car roof. This year I have a tripod but the breeze was working against me. Next year, dammit!
