we got this thing from a friend, who got it from who knows where. It squashes hard boiled eggs into a cube shape. Well, it tries to, anyway.

Riddle me this, though: Why would anyone want a cubed egg?

The square shape would keep deviled eggs from sliding all over the plate? Mebbe? Huh?

The egg slices fit better on a piece of bread?

I have no idea what eamondaly's tasted like, but I've made this bourbon slush a few times and it's always a huge hit. I get lots of emails asking for the recipe.

Man, that is fuckin' weird. I guess you could store them easier, or something? Like, stack them in the fridge?

They wouldn't roll around on your plate. Maybe you wouldn't need an egg cup. If you put them in an egg slicer all your slices would be the same size.

You guys were so drunk when I got back to Eamon's! I wish I'd been there for the whole thing.

Actually these things are amazing. I've been giving them as my "stock" gift to new friends for years. I ask you all: How would you ever make a successful Egg Igloo without cubed eggs? You still need toothpicks and all that if you want your igloo to keep its shape over the course of a party, but nonetheless...

Also, for anyone out there of or near the Jewish persuasion (or anyone who celebrates Passover, for that matter), this is an indispensable tool during Passover. When you have a Seder or just throw a party, you can make a beautiful egg pyramid (and carve little slaves out of carrots with parsley hair, etc…).

I gave one of these to a friend a number of years ago and told her about the egg pyramid idea. For about 5 years now, she's had a huge party...about 200 people...and every year she makes 2-4 egg pyramids. It really sets the mood, I'll tell ya that much!

I've kept my supply up by purchasing them at my local "World Market", but I just looked online and they don't sell them there. Gosh...I hope they still stock them in the stores - yikes!

Apparently, it's "Very sought after item and hard to get now with the box."

I determined I need to get one of those.

Unfortunately, kellydammit, the yolks are pretty badly deformed by the cubing process. But it would be fun.
