I don't know why, but I'm feeling this today.
Lee Hazlewood is a god among men.

I don't have it here at work, but maybe somebody's got the Lydia Lunch/Nick Cave version of 'Some Velvet Morning,' released I believe as 'Phaedra' on the Honeymoon in Red album. It's a good time. (And, speaking of Sinatra/Hazelwood cover versions, I also enjoy the Calvin Johnson/Pansy Division version of 'Jackson.')

Here's the Lydia Lunch/Birthday Party version of 'Some Velvet Morning,' which, as it turns out, is called 'Some Velvet Morning.'

And here's the Pansy Division (with Calvin Johnson--guess who sings the Lee Hazlewood part?) version of 'Jackson.' They didn't change the lyrics as much as I might've hoped. Specifically, the line 'I'm gonna snowball Jackson'? I want them to change it to 'I'm gonna Stonewall Jackson.' Nice, right?

Also, did you know that Prefab Sprout got their name from a misheard 'Jackson' lyric? Who the hell's even heard of Prefab Sprout these days?
