I don't buy it.
I was in the hospital for three months and couldn't shave. It didn't look any worse than it does if I get lazy and go a week and a half in the winter.

it's not like the hair on your head, where it'll keep growing and growing forever.

Plus beards are not scratchy. It is only stubble / shadow which is scratchy.
