Anybody know anything about Trillian? Like, about why I'm doing everything Cerulean and Google tells me, but I still can't connect to Gtalk using the Jabber plugin?

you need to have the 'pro' version (costs around $20) for that - do you have the pro version?

hmm, not sure what to suggest... when you go to 'manage my connections' and 'add a new connection', do you see the purple 'jabber' blob?

Sorry, I've provided little details..

I have the jabber plugin checked off. And I filled in all the necessary details in the box, like Google says. But the connect button is grayed over.

I'm beginning to hate Trillian- I don't want mail pop-up reminders. I don't want "tabbed containers" to pop-up automatically. And it's not clear how to fix those things. I just want one application where I can use all my messenger applications.

Ah ha- someone is saying the free trial of the Pro version won't let it work- I have to buy it. Grrrr. But why would I want to buy it, Trillian, without trying it first?

Apparently there's a new software called GAIM that is all set up for all messenger types, including GTALK. Downloading now.

Boy, it's a good thing I don't have lots of work to do (oh wait, yes I do! Fun, anyway).

sorry I'm making such lame suggestions, but have you tried restarting Trillian? The only other thing I can think of is that you might need to actually pony up the money first, but I can't see why that should be the case, and of course there's only one way of testing that...

I got it to work, I do know that, but it was a little while ago and I can't remember if it was before or after shelling out the cash.

On preview, yeah, I don't like the mail reminders much. Not sure if you can switch them off but you can certainly prevent the sound from happening. Damned if I can remember how though.

Trillian can be a pain but I find it the best such app - tried Gaim, didn't like it, used too many resources.

I'm using Gaim right now- really like it, a lot more than Trillian (plus I got Gtalk to work! Yahoo!). I'm a simple girl- it doesn't need to look like a million bucks, just let it do the job.
