iconomy is a mad genius. It would never have occurred to me to shoot photos through dish soap, among other things, but you can damn well bet I'm going to try some "homebrewed filters" soon.
thanks for posting this! I love the cigarettes box.
I once used my ruby sunglasses to shoot thru to provide a red filter and dual lens flare. the pic is on my blog somewhere. I was really proud of it at the time but now I just think it's kind of crap.
I've cranked off quite a few rolls of 35mm all taken thru different glasses: wine, brandy, shot, OJ, whiskey, etc. The glasses were all half full of water. Its an interesting effect.
BP, I think that's the first time my name and genius have been used in the same sentence! Glad you like... ;)
lonefrontranger, I was just looking at your blog. That photo is fantastic - the red one. My favorite two are the one you posted in the foto friday thread (great) and the one where the biker's arms frame the race announcer's face as she rides by...what a great capture!
iconomy: thanks! I really hesitated in putting up the blog link here, mostly because I don't want to be a blogger whore, but I'm also using that as a spur to keep the damned thing updated more often.
I do have a (semi) valid excuse for being lame and not updating; my bootlegnet wireless connexion (yea I know, I'm going to hell for stealing bandwidth) has been flakey for the past 2 months. Only recently have I done anything about it.
Anyway, I've been thru your photostream iconomy; very, very creative stuff here. I take it you must be shooting film?
me, I play at being 'artistic' by attempting to mimic the effects of a $15 plastic medium format toy film camera by using upwards of $2K of digital SLR and postprocessing software. not to mention the Macbook Pro purchased to deal with it all.
lonefrontranger, mostly digital. I did confiscate my husband's Ricoh xr-10 (it's sweet) a few months ago, and I just got a Holga, so I've been using film more and more. But almost all my stuff on flickr right now is digital, with the exception of about 20 photos.
