What is that delicious Persian dish... pickled broccoli, carrots, etc.. "torshi"? We had an Iranian friend serve us some of that that her mom had made when she was 10 years old (she was 27 and married at the time) and me being a pickle fiend anyway, I thought this was the most amazing flavor I'd ever tasted.

I wonder how many of the neonata survive to make up that 750 kg of adult fish.

Aren't these things farmed? Sounds delicious (juvenile fish is common in lots of Asian cuisine, too).

In grade 4 we had a big aquarium stocked with (artificially) fertilized salmon roe. We got to see them grow, it was pretty cool.

However, even in a predator-free environment a lot of the little fishies (chum) went to the big pond in the sky before we released them into the local ecosystem.
