Damn, if only I lived in New York and was allowed to use some of these.

This is pretty good reading and informative too!

I don't know, it seems like the vast majority would work anywhere (or, any urban area, at least).

Who pays the bill on a date?
The asker pays, unless the woman does the asking—then the man should pay. If the check’s on the table and her suitor hasn’t moved for it, a woman should allow him a one-bathroom-trip grace period. If it’s still there when she comes back, she should split the bill but is entirely free to silently ruminate about what a cheap jerk he is. (For same-sex couples, the asker really does pay.)

?? Really? Okay, I haven't dated in [mumblemumble] years... But if I asked a guy out, I would pay. This seems goofy.

What obligations does one have after a one-night stand?

The curtains. You have to use them when she isn't looking.

taz, I think that answer is so true- true in that non-PC, maybe-it-shouldn't-be-that-way-but-it-is way. I was discussing this with a girlfriend last night, after she asked me about being asked to go dutch on a first date- yea, we might offer to go dutch on the first date, but if the boy does anything other than pay, it's a serious turnoff. ::shrug::

They could have shortened this idiotic sentence to say "The man pays. Always." Unless there are more than two sexes, if you accept that sentence as given, what possible scenario would allow for anything else?

I love that sentence, deadcowdan, because it's "PC" to say that the asker always pays. It's like a little joke- oh, look, the Urban Etiquette handbook is going to say what everyone else says, wait, wait, but NO, they say what is actually true. High-lar-E-ous.
