Are clowns too scary for festival-goers? Hell to the yes!

I don't have a phobia against clowns. I just hate them with a passion. I'd keep the tickets but punch clowns in the mouth if they annoyed me.

A folkorist buddy of mine always points out that clowns are supposed to be scary. Their role in traditional dramatics is not to be, um, clownish, but more to be spooky and point out the absurdities of life. How we got it mixed up with ha-ha funny, I'm not sure.
