Dumb things our pets do -- go! 1. My cat curls up in front of the wall radiator, even when it's not on! I'm like, dude, it's just a cold spot in the hallway. 2. Sometimes my dog sees a small dog a block away and mistakes it for a cat. If she's off leash (it's a quiet street and she knows not to go off sidewalks) she then skitters down the sidewalk all excited toward said cat-dog and then stops short and walks away casually when she realizes it's a dog.
OH YEAH *bursting through a wall near you*

Hi, I'm Canadian! Pleased to meet you.
Venting I'm replacing two ceiling registers in the basement apartment of my house. The opening is too large and the screws only meet air. (The old ones were held up by screws on the edges of the vent.) Is there any easy way to fix this? Perhaps make some sort of frame of heavy duty tape around the opening so the screws have something to go into? The new registers are very lightweight and it won't take much to secure them.
ShitSenders. Uh, do not want.

what's the best way to warm up really cold hands? Today I went out without gloves and my hands were so cold when I got back that I couldn't move them and I nearly fainted from the pain. I warmed them by jumping around my apartment and blowing on them and then getting in the shower once they were a little warmer. What's the best method for warming cold hands? Putting steaming water on them is too painful. And no, I won't go out without gloves in this NYC weather ever again.
