I'm curious as to where these paintings are from. [More:]This person has over 200 of these oil paintings. I wonder where they came from. I wonder if she bought them from a liquidation sale or something. The ad says they are signed by the artist, but I'm thinking they are those wrapped canvas prints made to look like original paintings, complete with faux brush strokes. Anybody know what these are and why somebody would be in possession of such a large lot? Thanks

It's not a big deal but I want to buy a couple and I want to know what I'm buying.
I think I have my question answered. The seller emailed me. She owns 200 pieces of 14 images. Thanks all.

You're welcome!

My cousin put himself through design school hacking out paintings like those. He would get the technique down on one image. Take an hour to do the first and then do another dozen copies by the end of the day. He got $20 each. The dealer would then sell them at Starving Artists sales at Holiday Inns located just off interstate exits.

It may be cheap art, but it's still art.

i don't think $20 would even cover my materials.

Yeah, but you'd make it up on volume.

ethylene: The dealer bought the canvases and paints.

i meant on a single painting. Still, i hope this was a while ago when prices sucked less. i can see cranking out easy paintings for $20 an hour.
Still sucks, though.

Hell, i'm willing to do it now.
Lori, whachoo want? i'll even make it not crappy, but not 20 bucks either. That's barely shipping.

ethylene, I'm sure you would create something more interesting than these. ethylene, I would pay top dollar for your work. Top dollar!

These are kind of pedestrian, but I'm pedestrian so I might buy one for these prices. I thought they were reproductions, which I don't mind. Better a mass produced painting than a mass produced print in some cases. Thanks Ardiril for the info.

I kind of wish we had a way to have a MetaSites art sale. There is so much amazing original art created by people on these sites, and in general, I would be delighted to support them when I can and enjoy their work daily. Maybe one day we can figure that out. Or at least establish some kind of directory to their own sites where they are selling things.

Directory might be a better bet, if only because people who already have their own sites might not want to sign up for an account somewhere else. That said, does etsy have 'communities,' or anything along those lines?

Great idea, Miko. I too would love to purchase art that I've seen on the MetaSites.
