Clintons and the at-large caucus in Nevada Honest question -- what's up with the lawsuit in Nevada against the at-large caucus? It seems completely devious, and the casino workers lay the blame on the Clintons. But the Clintons clame innocence. Can any Nevadans or political wonks out there shed any light on this?
I think it's a battle over who's likely to get more union votes. The Las Vegas caucuses were going to be held at hotels on the strip, because it would have made it easier for service workers to participate. Members of one union sued. Their argument was that the arrangement was going to unfairly allot delegates. (They didn't say to whom, but it was a teachers' union with ties to Clinton.) Obama has heavy support from several unions, including the one that represents restaurant workers (of which there are bajillions in Vegas). Edwards also is popular with the unions. So, basically, the allegations are that the Clinton camp is scared and is trying to move the caucuses to a location where a heavy union turnout is less likely.

They, of course, deny that that's their motivation.

There was a bloggy op-eddy thing in the NYT this weekend about how it's a bad idea to get between the Clinton's and an elected office. It had some background. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Some political pundits describe the Clintons like they're a two-headed Mothra, with the White House as their Tokyo. The pundits, or their chosen candidate, must be Godzilla.

Yeah, huh? Also makes them sound like they have a whole cadre of assassins and knee-breakers at the ready.

They do get portrayed like family bosses in the Democratic Mafia, don't they?

Well my mom actually sent me some spam about all of the people, including Vince Foster, that Billary have offed over the years, in their rise to power.

It's instructive, this daily spam from my mom, to see what impressionable people are absorbing out there.

I got that same email back in 1998 or 1999, or maybe when Hillary was running for Senate. It's funny to see such memes ressurected.

Hmm. In any case, lawsuit dismissed.

When they put out a promotional video that was a take-off of the last scene in "The Sopranos", I wondered what kind of an image they wanted to display...
