Ultrasonic laughter has been recorded during groundbreaking rat-tickling experiments. In an article on teh funny from "Damn Interesting". But laughing rats? Really? Apparently. So what has gaspode really been doing with those rats, then?

heh, I never heard of this before. Here's the abstract for one of his papers. Note that Behavioral Brain Research is not the most highly regarded of neurobiology journals.

This reminds me of a story a few years back about how dogs "laugh." I looked up the story online, and lo and behold! It mentions the possibility of laughing rats, too.

I can't find CNN's version of the story, but it mentioned that some kennels had trying playing the "dog laugh" sound over a PA, and it had a calming effect on the dogs.
