Metachat Radio: Neo-Classical. Radio_Replica: 10-11:30PM PST.[More:]
"New" classical music. Why should Bach and Vivaldi et al. have all the fun? Basically, what I think is classical music, but done today. Because it's my show. Shinjuku Thief, Dead Can Dance, :Zoviet*France: and much more. note: running time is approximate due to bad time coding on one track. +/-10 min.
Crap! I wish I hadn't missed this.

Unless you're from... THE FUTURE!!!

BP's got talent to spare, so it wouldn't suprise me he's from THE FUTURE!!!
He still won't get me a ray-gun though. huh. selfish.

Show starts in 45 min.

Track listing.

1. Wendy Carlos - Title Music From "A Clockwork Orange" (2:25)
From the soundtrack.

2. Dead Can Dance - Song of Sophia (1:23)
Album: A Passage in Time. A best-of compilation.

3. A Silver Mt. Zion - Stumble Then Rise On Some Awkward Morning (6:04)
Track 3 from the wonderfully-titled "He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corners of Our Rooms" It's a side project of a few people from 'godspeed you! black emperor'.

4. David Bowie - Subterraneans (5:38)
Brian Eno and Bowie, from 'Low'.

5. Shinjuku Thief - Degrees of Acquittal (5:01)
An Austrailan composer who makes Germanic-sounding music under a Japanese name. From the album "The Scribbler", based on the writings of Kafka.

Thanks BP!

6. Coil - In Memory of the Truth (2:57)
'Unnatural History II' cd.

7. Shinjuku Thief - Blue Flame (3:54)
'The Witch Hunter'. Part 2 of a trilogy cd.

8. Coil - Wait, Then Return (2:11)

9. Beethoven - Suicide Scherzo (Ninth Symphony, Second Movement, Abridged) (3:09)
'A Clockwork Orange', again. I can't listen to this without seeing McDowell as Alex, burning the heart out of the world.

10. Laibach - For You Blue (5:08)
They covered The Beatles' Let It Be, the album, and it's better. "And now that it's the opposite, it's twice upon a time."

Tracklist update.

11. Shinjuku Thief - Wolfzahn (4:52)
'The Witch Hammer' cd. 1st of the three. I haven't found the 3rd (yet), so that doesn't make an appearance here.

12. Wendy Carlos - Theme From "A Clockwork Orange" (Beethoviana) (1:48)

13. A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round the Side of Your Bed (7:22)
Again, from 'He Has Left Us...'. gy!be would've been here, but I've realised I don't have my CD's ripped.

14. :Zoviet*France: - In My Secrecy I Was Real (8:14)
'Shadow, Thief of the Sun' cd. Band info. Why classical? Well, they're using found sounds as instruments and have put it together as a composition that can do the same things to your head as Beethoven. As much of a stretch as saying that early Throbbing Gristle is "music" - that is: not at all.

15. Shinjuku Thief - A Promise and a Lecture (5:04)

16. Dead Can Dance - The Host of Seraphim (6:19)

Coil, and more Coil! This set is awesome.

LOVE any Wendy Carlos!
posted by arse_hat 19 January | 02:19
More Coil coming. Currently it seems to be classical music in 30 second sound bites. quirky!
posted by Zack_Replica 19 January | 02:21
17. Shinjuku Thief - Flight of the Screech Owls (3:55)
'The Witch Hammer' again. Witches on brooms racing through an October night, ready to raise Hell.

18. Coil - Music For Commercials (8:45)
An exercise in getting a mood across in 30-second intervals.
19. :Zoviet*France: - Thin Air (8:15)

20. Shinjuku Thief - The Witch Hunter (5:44)
Eponymous. Soundtracks to movies that you play in your head, is the way I look at this.

21. Coil - The Main Title (3:19)
Actually the main title for Clive Barker's Hellraiser. This is from the unused themes to the movie of the same name. to geek out a sec, here... I've got my original CD copy signed by Clive. also issue #1 of the comic. woot!

22. Laibach - The Great Seal (4:16)
Final. From 'Opus Dei'. "Laibach Uber Alles."

Thanks for listening, all. Glad you liked it. I've got more that I will put together for another show.

Gracias BP! Are you dong a show tomorrow night, or is that left over from last week? if it's a new one, I don't think I'm doing anything, so I'll tune in.
