Freedom! I dropped my mother off at the airport this morning. She's been here for a month.[More:]Good goddamn that was a long, hard month. The woman is just hard work. No doubt she feels the same about me. I am so jealous of people who have easy relationships with their parents.
I love my parents and we get along, but I think I'd kill them if they came to my teensy apartment for a MONTH (and vice versa, I'm sure). Extra jewels in your crown in heaven, for sure.

Holy crap! Yeah, I'd kill my mom in a WEEK, let alone a month.

Uh oh, now that you'll have more time you're going to kick my butt in the Mefi running competition, aren't you?

When I was in law school, I would usually visit my parents' over the winter break and stay with them for about three weeks. We get along fine, generally, but when you're used to doing things your way and they're used to doing things their way, it can get a little rough. I spent a lot of time in my room with the door shut.

Congrats on your liberation! You are a better woman than I. I get along with my mom OK, but hate overnight guests in general. A month would destroy me.

What are ya doin' tonight, huh? Whatever it is, enjoy it to the fullest.

I salute you.

I adore my mom, but an afternoon is plenty for me.

(you can drop your shoulders now : )

We are getting your medal engraved.
Me, i've learned to walk away.
Abruptly. Miles and miles in severe weather warnings.
Distance helps, and perspective, esp. if it's not literal.

I'm not very good at the overnight guests thing either. Being one or having them. I'd just as soon spring for a hotel room than impose myself on folks. Enjoy having your house back!

My dad expected me to put him up after giving me nothing but crap about moving to NY/then buying my place......Hell no! Even if the place were livable I'd still say that. My brother owns a place in Seattle, a pied-a-terre here, several cars-- vintage Mustang, Beemer, jeep-- and I highly doubt he received the same treatment.
