Has anyone else noticed the sheer amount of Ikea stuff that shows up on Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane? Do they not have any other shops in Wales? Just an observation.[More:]The Vikings landed there hundred years ago, and it appears to still be under the control of the Norsemen (who make furniture for college kids and divorced men).
Interesting comment. I'm neither a College kid nor a Norseman, and the gaps in my home when we moved from a teensy apartment in Dublin to a larger house here were all plugged by IKEA. Having said that as a Torchwood addict, I hadn't noticed. Been perusing a lot of IKEA catalogues p=3?

OMG, I totally take that back! You're on to something!

I thought IKEA was sci-fi furniture. Didn't they also decorate Battlestar Galactica?

A hundred years ago? No, no no. More like a thousand. I still crack up at some of the Scottish castes built to prevent Vikings from coming to pillage, roughly 200 years after the vikings quit doing it. Hehehe, yeah, you're still scared mates. *viking roar*

Some of the beds on Project Runway have my IKEA sheets. I think a lot of reality shows use IKEA stuff to dress up the living quarters.

Decent quality, inexpensively priced!

Off/On-topic, I was disappointed in the James Marsters episode. Thought he might breathe new life into it, but not so much for me, despite a valiant attempt. This shows seems like SF for kiddies who want to watch "adult" SF. Lots of sexuality and homosexuality, but with often ridiculous plots, shallow as a really bad comic book, like the Sorayama-esque cyborg woman episode. Ghaaaah.

Kinda slick and stylish, Capt Jack is energetic and entertaining, all should be fun, but, disappointingly, probably no more for me. The overdramatic theme music, blaring in-between each commercial break, drives me bananas as well. Then again, it wakes me up ;-)

Just my .02¢ and probably my own quirkiness. If anyone here enjoys it, good on ya. I've watched a ton of "B-TV" myself and I tend to think things like Brisco County Jr and Hercules are abiding classics of the genre :-)

Hundreds of years ago. I typed that in bed late at night I was thinking about 1600 or so years ago?

I agree with Shane. The cast is game, Captain Jack is cool, but the scripts...I think the writers just raid the wastepaper basket after Dr. Who's brainstorming sessions.

Side note: Why does an unaccountable shadow organization tasked with protecting the planet from monstrous Rift creatures employ only five people, including an administrative assistant? You'd think that after so many beasties have invaded, infiltrated, and escaped Torchwood that they'd start advertising for a couple of security guards.

And why didn't they just cut Marsters's arm off at the end of the last show? Oh, right, the writers... a one-armed Marsters would be inconvenient for future episodes. Wait, a mutilation and a one-armed Marsters would be pretty dramatic and might fit the tone, no? ;-)

Hey, wait, we might be on to something here, some added drama:

[Capt John and Capt Jack grope each other frantically]

Capt John: "Damn you, Jack! I don't mind a missing arm, but now I can only fondle you with one hand! And you're two handfulls, at least!"

Well, I've only seen 6 episodes so far, but I'm convinces that Torchwood PWNS. It's on average more enjoyable than most of series 3 of Who. Now, to go and get that Ikea armoire called Tärdis.
