It's that time again! Can you recommend some Internet Radio stations for me to listen to at work, now that I have a job where I can listen to music? (yay!)[More:]

Here's my last.fm if it helps. I've been listening to chrismear's station this morning, for tasty audiobytes, but I'd like to get some more selection while I'm in the process of migrating my own music over to my work computer.

And if anyone has any recommendations on how to get at my music collection at home while I'm at work, I'm all ears. I have my mp3 folder shared on my local network at home, but haven't looked into sharing it. Do I need to set up an FTP server again? Or are there cool windows networking tricks, or winamp remote or what have you that make it easier/simpler?
Pandora. Choose your style/musician/tune and it'll track new stuff down for you.

Isn't pandora limited in the amount you can use it?

I listen to Radio Paradise at work most of the time which I love but LastFM tells me, "Your musical compatibility rating with Eideteker is: Very Low" so you may not.

No, you can listen to Pandora forever, AFAIK. I listen to it almost 24/7 and it's never gotten mad at me.

The restriction on Pandora is on how many songs you can skip in a certain timeframe. I think it's 10 per hour or somesuch, but I pretty much made that up, so check their site. If you butt up against that limit, they give you some warning and you're just forced to listen to the song you wanted to skip. A workaround is to create another station (I think free users can create 5?) and switch to that station when there's a song you don't like. As you add more music to your station(s), you'll get less songs you want to skip.

Pandora has annoying visual ads, but just minimize the window and you're good.

I was never limited to the number of the stations I had even by being outside of the US and using 90210 as ZIP code. And while I can't listen to music now, I can still access my favourites. I never experienced any annoying visual ads, but I have noscript and flashblock running (the latter needs to be enabled specifically for the music bits of the site).

I discovered a hell of a lot of new music through them and despite not being able to use their radio service any more, they still have my support, particularly because they still seem to be struggling against the RIAA.

The problem with last.fm is that it doesn't capture all the music I listen to, just the mp3s on my home computer. That excludes the tapes I listen to in my car, and the LPs I own, and the music on my mp3 player, and...

RP doesn't look bad. It's definitely something. Keep the recommendations coming, my thanks to everybody!

Ok, I remember now that I've tried Pandora again. You have to register to keep using it after the first 10-15 minutes. That, combined with the limited skips is what I was thinking of.

Part of what I don't like about last.fm and pandora is that it plays too much similar music. I'm pretty eclectic, so I kinda like a radio station that plays Nina Simone then Meat Puppets then Fishbone then Beth Orton. I can only listen to so man wannabe-Rush artists. So I'd love more recommendations for actual stations I can pick and choose from.

I split my listening time between RP and Radioio.com. with radioio, you do have to put up with listening to ads unless you pay a $50 annual fee. I'm seriously thinking about doing that, myself.

Another vote for Radio Paradise. (And I used to listen to Radio IO before the ads, etc.)
