I see Fred Thompson just dropped out of the race What a non-starter that campaign turned out to be.
Maybe Sam Waterston will run. I'm more likely to vote for him anyway.

Fans of Law & Order everywhere rejoice! Now reruns can run on stations unimpeded.

Probably means at least a 15% fee increase for Mr. Thompson going forward...

I wonder who will drop out next...

Huckabee, I reckon.

Really? I feel like he has too much buzz to quit now (of course, I'm sure my radar is tainted because I know more nutbags evangelicals than most). Wonder when Ron Paul will quit?

Thompson took away a good chunk of potential Huckabee voters. Huck's not out yet.

Right now, the race seems to be gearing up between McCain and Huckabee, with the third position being whoever talk radio latches onto (Rudy 9/11 most likely). As Rush and company apparently despise the two republican front runners.

Giuliani needs something to go his away. He's behind Paul even. I guess he's been hunkering down in Florida though.

I take that back, I didn't realize Romney apparently has the most delegates, so it's probably McCain Vs. Huckabee vs. Romney.

I'm afraid Ron Paul is in this for the long haul. He will splinter off eventually and take the nomination of a third party or just go independent. Paul is the perfect example of the difference between a Libertarian and a libertarian.

Quit? QUIT???

RON PAUL WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!!

*NOT* WHEN HE HAS THE BLIMP!

*NOT* WHEN HE HAS THE EL CAMINO LIMOUSINE-O!

*NOT* WHEN HE HAS NO EDITORIAL CONTROL OVER HIS OWN NEWSLETTER!

I think Rudy will be the next to bail out, especially if he fails in Florida. He has a little bit more of a sense of pragmatism than Paul.

Giuliani's campaign is a way bigger disaster. He was an ex-Man of the Year making a ton of money as a security consultant and speaker, drawing on his "Mr. 9/11" brand. Now he's gone and squandered a huge lead in the polls, and a ton of money to boot. And many tales of his corruption, mistakes, and weirdness have come out, too.

Whereas Fred just can get back to being a C-list TV actor.

I think Romney will pull it off somehow. The institutional GOP and movement conservatives just hate McCain (who has the 2d-best chance) and Huckabee (a niche candidate).

The fact that the "institutional GOP"--as you so well put it--hates McCain brings a smile to my face.

True dat.

Rommney won't make it. Too many folks just will NOT. Vote. For. A. Mormon.

Me predicts McCain.
