Sunshine. We just watched this movie, and it's absolutely AWESOME. →[More:] I wanted to see it in the theater but it came and went in what seemed like no time at all. It's beautiful, occasionally intense, and very moving. I highly recommend it. (Link goes to movie trailer.)

I saw this recently and really liked it. I haven't seen a movie that I enjoyed as much as this one for ages. There are some images from that movie that have stayed with me for ages.

If you haven't seen Sunshine, do not read any of the user comments on IMDB. Even the non-spoiler comments could ruin it for you.

This is dumb, but I didn't know anything about it and when it was around (for a good while in the region) I assumed it was something I would not want to see based on the title. (This, in hindsight, despite the good track record of films with "sunshine" in the title.) Never even read the preview synopsis.

Then I found out it was humanistic sci-fi (or whatever you want to call it) which is right up my alley. And it was gone.
