Teeth - movie preview I saw linked from mefi. Quicktime, probably NSFW. I don't even know what to say about this, but I think I want to see everyone involved in this drown in sewage.[More:]Why am I linking to this? Really, I'd like to know. I guess part of my mind is still 12 years old.
Funny, I have no desire to click whatsoever. I'll wait for someone else to do it.

Not me. I'm not gonna click it.

I don't know why, but I thought that movie plot had already been made in the 80s. The sf/horror comics have been using it at least since then.

I dunno why, but this flickr link seems germane. Especially for the comments.

Again, NSFW, although rather clinical. Also popular, judging from the page views.

Yeah, don't click. You don't need it. I guess I was just shocked enough by it that I had to do something with it, so I posted it here. Now regretting... It's just hard to believe that someone would stoop so low as to try to make a movie like that.

Critic seem to like it. 78% at Rotten Tomatoes.

Huh. I kept waiting for the Energizer Bunny to appear. Hoping for the Energizer Bunny. Assuming the Energizer Bunny was going to appear, because, well, this has to be a joke, right?

I mean, not a funny joke. But an attempt at one.

Right?

Couldn't watch the trailer, but the summary made it seem like a satirical look at some sorts of slasher films, where a girl's new-found sexuality leads to terrible things happening to her and her family. Rotten Tomatoes seems to agree.

Instead of "the return of the repressed," this horror flick sounds like the "the revenge of the repressed."

Vagina dentata is an old concept, but it sounds like it's given a very shallow, hack-ish treatment here. The reviews I've read were all pretty poor... I'm surprised by the 78% on RT.

Goatse will not bite. Now, stick a pair of dentures in goatse, and you've got yourself a movie!

For once, I'm really, REALLY happy I never installed quicktime.

I was gonna click (I'm a glutton for punishment) until BP mentioned vagina dentata. I'll pass, thanks.

It's playing in NY at the moment, but it's gotten shitty reviews (despite the Sundance award), so I passed.

Damn. I was aware of the flick before this post, but hadn't realised it'd gone into pre-screening. Sure, I'm pre-judging it, but from an overview of the reviews... I'd hoped that it would be a more in-depth movie. I'd thought that they could work in some feminist and perhaps pre/Victorian views on the whole female anatomy and a challenge on the stereotypical male vision (which could've been the the reverse of the whole "anything-longer-than-it-is-wide" thang). Not to mention the castration (female and male) angle.
Not that I'd really expected more from Hollywood, but one can hope... in vain, it seems.

Likewise, Zack... I was hoping it would actually be scary instead of just stupid. The whole idea that horror flicks should be FUNNY is killing the genre, IMO. I hate hate HATE that crap.

Ginger Snaps was a horror flick that played nicely on issues of puberty and sexuality without being a damn spoof. (I can't speak for the sequels- I hear they're bad.) There is some humor in the movie: when a girl who's been bitten by a werewolf tells the school nurse, "I'm getting hair everywhere," the nurse just tut-tuts; but in the end, it's all a scary metaphor, and not a joke. That's how horror should be.

Am I the only one who watched the trailer? It's not that bad, they show nothing and the don't have to vagina dentata is scarier in everyones minds (be you male or female) than any horror flick monster designer could ever cook up anyway. It doesn't look ilike it's trying to be stupid or funny either but I haven't read the reviews yet.

The movie's reviews are actually very mixed, which is standard for even the better low-budget horror movies.

This one seems to have it's eye set on camp classic status, in which case it seems to be better than it has any right being. That it isn't what (or as good) as some people seem to want it to be doesn't make it a bad movie. I honestly can't wait to see it, I've been reading about this for months.

I also totally want to watch this. As soon as I saw the trailer the first time and a couple of minutes after the initial "wut?" and I surmised that the story was about VAGINA DENTATA I was on board like I was in the O'Jays and this movie was the Love Train. I'm not going to pay attention to the reviews, because quite honestly for the horror genre reviewers rarely reflect the numerous subtle ways you can enjoy it. Even if it's ridiculous and campy...it's going to be a ridiculous and campy horror movie, it's a ridiculous and campy horror movie about VAGINA DENTATA. If it's horribly written with stilted dialogue to make it laughabale, it's a laughably horrible movie about VAGINA DENTATA. If it's great, it's going to be a great movie about VAGINA DENTATA. It looks like a win-win situation to me.

Man, I'm a nut for taboo horror. I can't not see this movie—I'm right there with you, kkokkodalk—because, I mean, come on.

VAGINA DENTATA.

Back in high school, I saw this film, Kissed, with my girlfriend at the time. Review passes, we were on the school newspaper. Bonus!

It's actually more a romantic drama than anything (and starring Molly Parker!), but it's a romantic drama about NECROPHELIA. And that just kind of wins. It didn't matter if it was good or bad or what, because, look:

NECROPHILIA.

Made for kind of an awkward date, though.
