I still have a weakness for Dunkin Donuts

Their coffee is horrible now. I remembered as being amazing and I had a couple of sips the other day. It was like drinking water.

I'm rooting for Mister Donut in the Korean Donut Wars.

Donut Plant NYC is made of win, according to those pictures. They're so pretty! I would love a green tea flavored donut.

I miss Winchell's.

Pardon me for being grumpy and cynical, but Yay! Let's export more unhealthy American crap so the rest of the world can be as obese and coronarily deficient as we are!

Ahem. Sorry.

Deborah, I too have really fond memories of going to Winchell's as a kid. Once or twice a month we'd drive to a town about 45 minutes away to visit friends of the family. They were always late nights, and I always fell asleep well before the card-playing was done. My dad would carry me, sleeping, to the car for the trip home. There was a Winchell's about a mile away from their house, and I always woke up just before we got there and begged to stop. If I'd been good (and face it -- I was always good), we'd hit the drive through for a chocolate donut. And then I'd fall asleep again, sticky and covered in donut goo.

Winchell's was always the only building lit at midnight. It was a strange, comforting beacon.

What's interesting to me is the Korean take on doughnuts. It's just ... wow. I have to go visit my mom's family, pronto, and get them to treat me to some American food, Korean-style.
