Today's heartwarming story 88 monkeys are rescued from laboratory hell in Chile and start a new life in Dorset.
Not from the Daily Mail, so, sadly, no cute pictures.

[More:]
Monkey World was asked originally to take 36 of the monkeys. It was only when Dr Cronin discovered the rest were due to be put down that she made the decision to accept them all.

“I thought rather than just try and pick on certain individuals, I would bring everybody over at once and give them all a chance to live a more natural and enjoyable life.”

“All the capuchins were fit and healthy which was excellent. Eventually they arrived at Monkey World and were able to meet each other for the first time.

“They have been able to interact with each other, climb and try new food – so it’s wide eyes all round.”

Awww ...

And of course this thread would not be complete without ...

Were they stoned to death after being mistaken for Frenchmen?

I've read accounts of monkeys like these when they are first released. It's amazing. Some look around outside at the ground and at leaves and such as if they can't recall what they are. They're overjoyed but incredibly cautious. They often embrace each other tenderly, having been alone and only briefly touched by cold humans (and surgical instruments) for nearly as long as they can remember.

Seeing them finally released is amazing and beyond touching. But then begins the slow process and work of helping them move past decades of psychological scars.

Imagine spending twenty years alone in a cage.

Thanks for posting this, Jan.

Lists of food, beauty and other products that are crulty-free and not tested on animals are available all over the 'Net. Spending wisely is a very good thing.

Don't be fooled! They're only in Chile because they missed the last train to Clarksville.
