We Can Haz Snowstorm! Unabashed self link - it's snowing like the proverbial [More:]motherfucker here! We have like 2" already and more on the way! Okay, this is not even enough to sneeze at for y'all up north but for Asheville this is a BIG DEAL and, get this, the local news ran recommendations for how to deal with the snow that said, and I quote: Cover your mouth and all exposed skin! Because otherwise, I guess, the snow might get you. Anyway, we are all happy and the house smells like stir fry and wood smoke and school and work and everything is canceled tomorrow and we are drinking beer. Snow day YAY!
Yay! Snow rules!

Cover your mouth and all exposed skin!

Uh oh. You guys aren't getting that deadly flesh-eating snow, are you? That shit is bad news.

Pretty.
Would you like some chocopumpkin cake topped with strawberry stuff and whipped cream with a side of freshly washed cat?

It is snowing here, too. We're only supposed to get about an inch though. In Indiana this stops exactly nothing.

I remember when I lived in Nashville (TN) - one time I was out shopping and there was snow coming from the sky and not even 1/8 of an inch was on the ground and all the stores started closing. I was like WTF is wrong with y'all? I remember driving home (only about a mile from where I was shopping) and realizing that everyone was freaking out because no one there knows how to drive in it + they didn't have the proper snow removal methods to deal with it. It was pretty surreal for me because I was so used to driving in it.

I'm about 20 miles south of MGL. We're up to about three inches now, and still coming down. The bad news is it's supposed to turn to freezing rain at dawn.

North Carolina is right on the ice belt. It snows north of here, and it rains south of here, but it ices here. Pretty, but not good.

Yay snow! I woke to a fresh six inches this morning. I love that.

No snow, but it's getting down to 36F/2C around here*, which is fairly cold for around here. And those low temps mean that rain is highly unlikely (cold clear night).

W00t indeed! A faboo storm, and I'm thinking about getting out the ghetto sled (flattened cardboard)and having a go down the road [MGL, we should coordinate festivities].

I woke to a fresh six inches this morning.

Say no more!

I love that.

I bet she does, I bet she does.

It's finally cooling back down here -- today looks to be the last day with a high above freezing for a few weeks -- and I'm hoping we get a good dose of snow during the weekend. So long as I don't have to go anywhere in it, bring on the lake effect.

When you have dogs from a stumpy-legged breed, and one of them is a puppy still, nine or ten inches of snow is teh awesome.

We got a dusting here... it was pretty when it was falling late yesterday, but this morning everything is gross and muddy.

I was a sneering transplant Yankee until I learned that in the South, snowstorm usually means icestorm, and nobody can drive in that crap. After my first experience, I quickly followed the Southern example of viewing any chance of falling snow as impending doom and disaster.

It's snowing here, which means watch the pretty flakes for two hours, then the rain, then good luck driving home, and all gone tomorrow. It used to realy snow here. There are young children in my town who have never built a snowman. It's creepy, watching the curvy snow line change where it lands on the maps - the curve is the same, the snow comes from the same direction, but now we land an hour South and an hour East of it.

No snow here, but the mister said it was coming down on his drive to the train and once on the train it continued into work. I hope we get some more before Winter is over.
