Flying Pigs Freeze Twice Over, or Sumthin. I have done two things recently that I would have never expected to do, and, in fact, not having done those were pillars of whatever positive self image I have going these days.[More:]

1. I called in to one of those local Sportstalk shows in the radio.

2. As I type this, I am in the middle of putting together a PowerPoint presentation for a class I am presenting at next Wednesday.

I generally hate Sportstalk and I loathe sitting through PowerPoint.

What have you done recently that you never thought that you would do?
What was the phone call about?

I haven't done anything recently that I never thought I would do....boring. I need to take more risks in life.

Well ico, it was early Dec., and the host was talking about holiday traditions, and citrus fruit in stockings, etc. His sidekick was saying how weird that was, yunno, just jockboys bantering, and I called in to inform him and his listening public about Saint Nicholas Day.
I was just on my way somewhere alone in the car, had a cellphone, and was surfing around stations, etc.

I need to take more risks in life.

You could show us your damn kitchen, for starters. . .

Hah....I know. The last time I suggested the theme I didn't contribute anything either. I hate every single photograph I take lately.

Yesterday, I went to the gym and worked out voluntarily for the first time ever (I hadn't worked out since gym class my freshman year of high school).

I'm hella sore, but I'm going to go do it again tomorrow.

Agreed to move to a non-major city. I'm excited about it now, but it definitely necessitated a mental shift about how I envisioned my life -- I think the actual plan fits me better than the vaguely envisioned plan, but it was weird to come to the realization that my priorities had actually shifted.

Going back to grad school. That decision was a few years ago, but it still feels a bit odd that I'm student again (spring semester just started this week). I had vowed never to go back after I finished undergrad. And speaking of PowerPoint, I was TERRIFIED last year of giving presentations in front of the class, and I'm a bit surprised now to find that seeing "group presentation" on the syllabus doesn't bother me at all. So that's pretty cool.

We know about your self-regard, quonsar, but I was looking for something out "in the world" here.

I'm starting to date someone who doesn't have signed divorce papers yet, which I always swore I would never ever do. The marriage is definitely over tho. And... ummm... he is kinda cute.

miss lynnster: the mister wasn't divorced yet either, but he was legally separated. It gave me pause, but it worked out.

I've been eating healthy-ish. Like, fruit, and whole wheat bread, and stuff my mom eats. Weird.

I traded voicemails with a realtor -- weird. (I'll never be able to afford anything but I thought I'd learn a little more about it.)

I'm starting to find the forensic shows on TV a little, well, graphic-ly dizgusting. Weird.

Calling the LA meetup when I hadn't met anyone who attended in real life--and do better when I can hang back and observe.
