I've just started snoring... help! [More:]I never used to do it earlier--was a very sound sleeper in fact, but as of late, my mother has been telling me that I have indeed started to snore. And sometimes it's been so bad that she can hear me all the way from the other part of the house. What's wrong with me??? Is it because of the tension? (I'm currently unemployed, and am looking for a job.) Would that have anything to do with it?
Do you have a cold?

Have you gained any weight? My coworker claims that he magically stopped snoring when he lost about 50lbs.

Well, I have put on a bit of weight, to tell you the truth (quite a bit actually, due to the medication I'm taking).

It may even be the medication.

Hey - when you snore so loudly you wake yourself up, give me a call and we'll compare stories.

I snore so loud that I wear earplugs so that I don't hear the neighbors beating on the wall (and the floor and the ceiling).

yep, it's the fat. next step - buy an SUV, declaw your cats, and post a self-pitying AskMe about pretty much anything. Wheeeeeeeee!

[i've snored like a chainsaw since forever. even when i was a skinny young pup driving an opel kadet with my kitty-shredded hands.]

Mr. V snores so loud you can hear him from other rooms. I have to wear ear plugs to sleep. So imagine my annoyance when he told me that MY snoring was annoying HIM!! After debate, he even admitted that sometimes he may have blamed the dog's snoring on me. I think he may be waking himself up with his own sounds, because when I ask him to demonstrate how I sound, he just sounds like deep breathing to me.

1. Yes, it's the weight. When I lost 70 lb. three years ago I stopped snoring. I gained half that back and started again.

2. BreathRight Nasal Strips are very effective at alleviating the snoring. They are quite uncomfortable at first, but after a few nights you get used to them.
